Day 75: Get a backlink list of your competitors & analyze it – Focus on: indirect competition

Task

Today we choose an indirect competitor, we check his backlink list and we analyze the list. Are there high-quality and pertinent backlinks that could be interesting for us? It is important NOT to choose the poor-quality backlinks. Instead, we note down “potential” backlinks and follow these up during the next session.

  • Hotel in Barcelona investigates backlinks of hotels in Alicante
  • Plumber from Bern investigates backlinks of plumbers from Zurich

Checklist

  1. ▢ Identify qualitative and relevant links for direct and indirect competitors.
  2. ▢ List high-quality links.
  3. ▢ Differentiate the list: Are links easy or hard to get?
  4. ▢ Identify low-quality links. Don’t list these links.
  5. ▢ Consideration with high-quality links: How can I approach link partners and convince them for a link cooperation.
  6. ▢ Basic rule: Both partners, you and the other website owner, have to benefit from the linking (win-win). Otherwise this will not work.
